Property Tax Class Conclusions Classes provide awareness –The purpose of the program –The steps for enrollment Awareness doesn’t mean enrollment Fear of change in programs is a barrier

Forest Land Transfer As age of owners increases, Ownership change is inevitable –If the land is passed to the kids; Does the land stay whole? Are the management goals passed with it?

Survey 9 ILT classes between 2007 and ILT attendees, 108 valid addresses 66% response rate or 71 responses Responses different families

Were the classes effective at retaining forestland? 62 out of 67 persons reported –likely or very likely that their land, totaling more than 11,000 acres –would remain forested in the next 20 years.

Increase family communication Family communication regarding the future of the land is a key to success! Out of 68 responses, 60 indicated the class helped with family communication
