AIMS TF Power Supply Specification completed and reviewed. Request for Proposal sent to 10 prospective bidders. All 10 have received and are reviewing specifications. One no bid has been received. July 3 is the deadline for submitting proposals and quotations.

AIMS TF Power Supply, contd. Detailed design of Remote Monitor and Control Interface is underway. Detailed design of High Current Switch Interface is underway. Inventory of PLC equipment, AFOLs and DFOLs, Cross-connect blocks and other required equipment is underway. Purchase of interface parts and equipment will begin soon.

AIMS TF Power Supply Varistor Assembly Quotation has been received from second more qualified vendor for 10 Units, 12 Units and 15 Units matched and tested. Have received more details on design and should receive final information tomorrow. 8 Weeks delivery ARO quoted. Layout of mounting panel and buswork for varistor assembly have been discussed and work has started. Shunts and isolation amplifiers for current measurement are being determined. Cooling and interlock circuits being discussed. Detailed design needed.

AIMS TF Power Supply Varistor Assembly, contd Units of 6 paralleled discs will be used in parallel. (60 total discs) Energy rating per disc repeated with cooling is 75kJ. Approximately 5 hours between maximum discharge cooling time. Current Rating is 250A/disc. Each unit is tested for current sharing. – Load sharing measured – Thermal monitors on each disc in Unit verify sharing – Third party test results confirm good current sharing Voltage clamped at 1500V with 15000A in load for 10 Units in parallel.

AIMS TF Power Supply High Current Switch A more detailed specification for the High Current Switch has been written. Specification has been sent to two more vendors for quotations. Original vendor unable to produce test results for voltage rating of switch so far. Optical interlocks for positive indication of switch position are under discussion.
