Army Strong Headquarters, USAREC 3 Key Messages Recruiting an all-volunteer force during a protracted war – Challenges Remain Successful recruiting in FY06 –Regular Army 100.8% (80.6K of the 80K); 12K (15%) FY07 Entry Pool –Army Reserve 99.5% (25.4K of the 25.5K); 2.7K (10%) FY07 Entry Pool Highest RA total in 9 years; highest AR total in 3 years Increased trained recruiters, incentives/bonuses, technology, policy changes Army Achieved FY06 Retention Mission; 104% RA, 103% AR FY06 100% Fully qualified; 81% HSDG for RA, 91% AR; All others are HSG Equivalent –High School Diploma Grads avg only 4pts higher on the ASVAB than GEDs (58 vice 54) FY06 Enlistee Degrees – Over 3,700 with BA, 280 Masters and 23 with PhDs –Over 15% RA and 19% AR FY06 with college experience (PS/NPS) Less than 3 out of 10 youths (17-24 year olds) are fully qualified ~ 90K of 106K total accessions (RA/AR) required no waiver Initial Entry Training Attrition reduced from 18% (May 05) to 6.3% (Aug 06) –Field training and Warrior tasks have increased; 60% DS deployment experience More than an Army challenge – a challenge for the Nation
