4. IMPACTING BIBLICAL WORSHIP4. IMPACTING BIBLICAL WORSHIP 5. FERVENT HEARTFELT PRAYER LIFE 6. PASSION FOR THE LORD 7. ACTIVE LOVE AND CARE FOR THE CHURCH 8. ONGOING DISCIPLESHIP 9. INVOLVEMENT IN EVANGELISM AND MISSIONS  Read Matt 28:19-20.

 This passage is what is commonly known in Christian circles as The Great Commission. ~ There are 2 aspects to The Great Commission that I would like to emphasize.  Firstly, TRUE DISCIPLING MUST BEGIN WITH EVANGELISM. ~ You cannot biblically disciple someone who is not in Christ.

 Evangelism is the willingness and the action of taking our love of God, and God’s love for us to others, wherever they are. ~ We are to proclaim Christ as the Lord and Redeemer of the world.  The church must function from the precepts of 1Pet 3:15.  EVANGELISM IS VERY CLOSE TO GOD’S HEART.

~ The greatest activity that the early church in the book of Acts found itself most engaged in is that of evangelizing those who had not yet come to Christ. ~ That’s why the preaching of the Gospel and the teaching of evangelism must be very high on every minister’s pulpit agenda! ~ We have to see evangelism as a privilege and not a duty or chore.

 Secondly, THIS ACTIVE EVANGELISM SHOULD SOON ENOUGH GIVE BIRTH TO A BURDEN FOR MISSIONS. ~ “Nations” refers to other peoples or people groups – a people of different ethnicity from ours. ~ This is really primarily a call to cross- cultural missions.

~ And this is not an option only for big churches, or churches that have money. ~ The Great Commission is a call to every follower of Christ. 10. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT  Read Eph 4:  Titus 1:5

 That’s why there must also be training and releasing of lay people. ~ People in the church need to be trained and discipled to be leaders.  This training must, of course, be according to the biblical standards of leadership. ~ Read 1Tim 3:1-13 (cf. Titus 1:5-9).

III. CONCLUSION  Many churches today are sick. ~ Too many churches today seem unconcerned about the very biblical signs that should distinguish a vital, growing church.  The health of the church should concern all Christians, particularly those who are called to be leaders in the church.

~ Our churches are to display God and His glorious gospel to His creation. ~ We are to bring Him glory by our lives together. ~ This burden of display is our awesome responsibility and tremendous privilege.
