Mutual respect Confidentiali ty Allow yourself and others to think outside the box

Introduction Kelly Wilkinson – Research within your school Matt Shillito – Research within your teaching alliance Mari Palmer – Research across teaching school alliances

How does research link to ‘ The Principal ’ – developing system leaders? ‘ The glue of coherence is purposeful interaction over time that people find worthwhile – for example in terms of results ’

See what everybody else has seen, but think what nobody else has thought.

It offers a focused opportunity to pin down, to unpick, and to drill down into an aspect of your work that you might otherwise allow to pass you by in the pressures of everyday work and daily life. It becomes your " thing "; you store it in a pot in your mind and throw things into it as you work. Emptying and sorting the " pot " is exciting and rewarding - sharing it with others helps to consolidate and drive it forward even more.

“ Finance is about how people organise and invest their assets ; if you only have accounting, you are merely keeping careful records while you go out of business.” Accountability vs Capacity Building

I feel as though I understand the children’s thought processes better. Confidence has grown to the extent that she is now leading the meeting between parent, child and teacher. As a result of clear focus on specific barriers, a referral for SpLD has been made. There has been a marked improvement in his attendance. 86%-96% I feel as though I understand the children’s thought processes better. She has gone from being timid and withdrawn to volunteering for a sports leadership role. He is a more resilient learner who now encourages others to ‘not give up’. I feel as though I understand the children’s thought processes better. He has published a book to Kindle (after writing 15 drafts) explaining what life is like with an autistic brother.

Research Across Teaching Alliances We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. T. S. Eliot
