Fishing and oyster-farming in France

The France is the second world maritime domain after the United States. & On the ourth of the European Union with 1 billion euro (€) of turn-over in 2012 and represents 10% of the catch, the French fishery has generated direct jobs.

Marine fisheries, aquaculture and products of the sea are essential in life and food of the French people.

The management of our marine resources is necessary to ensure the longevity of the fishing activities. Fishing and sustainable aquaculture development allow an improvement of our knowledge in the marine field.

Faced to the increase of global population, fisheries cannot alone meet the growing needs of humanity. After large investments on the island of Noirmoutier and Britain, there's control of the hatching processes.

It contributes to 1.4% of GDP (Gross National Product ) and employs 3.3% of assets.
