Rainforest Animals and Plants By: Olivia Lugo

Spider Monkeys Spider Monkeys like to hang upside-down holding on with all four feet and arms. That is where they get their odd name.

Toco Toucans Although Toco Toucans spend most of their time in trees they don’t really fly much. They usually hop to trees instead of doing all that much work. Toucans nest in the hollows of trees. They often move into cavities created and abandoned by woodpeckers

Boa Constrictor Boa constructors are great swimmers but they prefer to stay on dry land. They live in logs and abandoned mammals burrows. SSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Venus Flytrap The Venus Flytrap has short hairs called trigger hairs. When something touches them the lobes of the leaves shut and trap the insect inside.

Orchids There are more than 20,000 known types of Orchids. They are common in warm places such as rainforests.

Bromeliads Bromeliads are related to the pineapple family. They have thick waxy leaves shaped like a bowl to catch rainwater

Butterflies Adult butterflies sip nectar with a long straw like tongue. A caterpillar’s first meal is its own eggshell.
