Presentation transcript:

Vision Our Hope: We are eagerly looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth in which we will be at home with the Lord in our glorious resurrected bodies. This is our dream, this is something we must never lose sight of! This is more important than any earthly mission. Our Vision: Glorifying & Enjoying God Together. Glorifying: We endeavor to glorify (please) God in everything we do. Enjoying: We seek our ultimate satisfaction from our relationship with God. Together: LBC exists to equip one another by participating in His Kingdom work.

Vision 2 Peter 3: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

Strategy Goal: To live out our hope through simple, reproducible structures. (1 Peter 3:15) What God wants us to do: We want Liveoak to provide structures for maximum freedom for members to evangelize. Let’s reduce the time spent in producing internal ministries so that we can spend more time in evangelism. What God wants me to do: We need to develop more of a pioneer spirit, like Joshua and Caleb We need to develop 1 or 2 very deep friendships who will spur us on to serve as pioneers & aggressively keep us accountable

Evangelism Goal: To share our hope in Christ by loving and befriending people

Leadership Goal: Elders and leaders raised up from within our local body Elders (overseer, bishop, “pastor”): Bi-voc/tent-making (serving hours a week) Compensated for their work The average man that God has called and raised up

Leadership Goal: Elders and leaders raised up from within our local body Elders in Training: On the job training (elders meetings, sharing load, hg leading, etc) Doctrine, ministry skills and character training within the church Personal discipleship (marriage, family, ministry, finances, etc) Approximately 5 hours a week (this is in addition to HG/deacon responsibilities) Teach on Sundays 3 to 4 times a year The average man that God is calling and raising up

Leadership Goal: Elders and leaders raised up from within our local body Deacon: Men serving a designated task for a designated time HG Leaders: Facilitate what God is doing in their group “Shepherds” who watch, care and pray for their group Women in Leadership: Providing opportunities for women to serve

Home Groups Goal: To spur one another on through deep transparent friendships Relationships where care & shepherding take place - watch, care, pray Sharing meals / Prayer / Worship / Bible Study / Communion

Life Groups Goal: To spur one another on through deep transparent friendships 2 to 3 people (not necessarily in the same HG) Accountability in righteousness/holiness Accountability in reading, studying and applying the Word Partnership and accountability in evangelism

LOLA (& LOG) Goal: To gather as men/women to glorify and enjoy God together Same sex community gathering to pray, share life, teaching, etc.

Children Goal: To equip parents to raise children biblically. Sunday teachings Books, videos, etc Classes Mentoring & discipling

POWS (poor, orphans, widows, strangers) Goal: To serve and care for POWS, both foreign and domestic, through Home Groups in avenues that especially foster long-term relationships Personal and direct Relational Ongoing

Foreign Missions Goal: To serve and care for other parts of the world through home groups in avenues that allow for a long- term relationship including missionary care and church planting Personal and direct Relational Ongoing

Church Planting Goal: To spread our hope through starting new churches Sharing the building and resources Sharing elder plurality Elder leading a team (hope to plant by 2015, if not sooner)

Sunday Gathering Goal: To gather as our whole community to glorify and enjoy God together Informal, relaxed, friendly, welcoming Varied yet efficient (we all share the load & can incorporate more variety) Spiritual yet sensitive to unbelievers

The Building Goal: To have a homey, relaxed, comfortable, beautiful meeting place A shared resource (within Liveoak and with other groups) Adaptable, multi-purposed Like a home: Friendly, welcoming, comfortable, etc. Spiritual
