What’s on your Bucket List?

an ancient bucket list

I wanted to see what was worthwhile for people to do under heaven during the few days of their lives. Ecclesiastes 2:3

I tried cheering myself with wine… I undertook great projects… I amassed silver and gold… I acquired… the delights of the heart of man Ecclesiastes 2:3,4,8

I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labour. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun. Ecclesiastes 2:11

Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly. Ecclesiastes 2:12

I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness. The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in the darkness; Ecclesiastes 2:13-14

…but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both. I said in my heart, “This too is meaningless.” Ecclesiastes 2:14,15

Pleasure… Work… Wealth… Wisdom… … meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Ecclesiastes 2:26

It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart. Ecclesiastes 7:2
