What programmatic barriers might people with disabilities face at the One-Stop Career Center? Being sent straight to Vocational Rehabilitation and/or other services in the One-Stop targeted to people with disabilities. Some of the very same global-level, internet-security threats that were faced and overcome by Angela Bennett (actress Sandra Bullock) in the 1995 political thriller “The Net”. The robot programming workshop they are taking through the One-Stop could turn into an episode of 1960’s “Lost in Space”!

It’s statistically unlikely that job seekers with disabilities (or anyone else for that matter) are going to fall down a rabbit hole (ala Alice in Wonderland) at the local One-Stop and end up trapped in a black & white rerun of “Lost in Space” with the Robinson family. This isn’t the correct answer to the question. Please try again… Probably not…

People with disabilities accessing the One- Stop Career Center will most likely NOT be forced to overcome identity theft, or single-handedly prevent the collapse of our country’s finest political and financial institutions at the hands of power/money- hungry computer programmers (as happens in this 1995 movie). Programmatic Barriers in the One-Stop are something else… There is a better answer though… Please try again! Maybe, but probably not…

Under Title II of the ADA a public entity’s (e.g. the One-Stop) services, programs, or activities, when viewed in their entirety must be readily accessible to and usable by people with disabilities. Achieving program accessibility requires the following: Reasonable modification to policies and procedures Acquisition or redesign of equipment or assignment of aides Provision of service at alternate sites Structural modification or physical barrier removal Exceptions Fundamental alteration Undue burden To learn more check out: The Office of Disability Employment Policy: A World In Which People With Disabilities Have Unlimited Employment Opportunities CORRECT!
