3 What is the difference between an Integrated Resource Team (IRT) and an Interagency Committee? What…huh? Never heard of either of these things... An IRT focuses on the needs of a specific job seeker with a disability and coordination of resources to address those needs. An Interagency Committee focuses on systems coordination, problem solving and collaboration to create and maximize universal access to services and service delivery for the benefit of all job seekers with disabilities on a community-wide level. There is no difference. They are the same thing.

4 REALLY??? Welcome to the world of the Disability Program Navigator. These two concepts are integral to your work. To learn what the IRT and the Interagency Committee do to assist job seekers with disabilities in the return to work, please try again.

5 Although, you aren’t the only one to think these two different concepts are the same thing. We will give you a hint: One is focused on the macro (systems) level and the other is focused at the micro (individual) level. Now try again to learn more about these two valuable strategies that are very different but also complement one another very well…They are like the Chinese “Yin” and “Yang,” which represent complementary and interdependent aspects of a single unifying force. WRONG….

6 While they might be called by different names in your One-Stop Career Center(s) the concept of the IRT is to assist a specific individual job seeker with accessing the needed supports and services across multiple programs and/or agencies to achieve and sustain their individual employment goals. The Interagency Committee (sometimes called a Disability Action Team, or Interagency Action Committee, etc…) is a SYSTEMS LEVEL effort on the part of the workforce system and its partners to identify and address barriers to employment for groups of job seekers with disabilities. To learn more about the IRT Approach check out the Archived webinar and downlaod the IRT FAQs and then read some IRT examples in action. To learn more about Establishing an Interagency Committee, check out the DPN FAQ.
