3  30 Liaisons  Work with courts, hospitals, law enforcement, schools, treatment agencies, and families  Over 7,500 contacts with law enforcement have been made.  Over 3,500 referrals have been made.

 MHFA helps people identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness.  Over 11,000 Mental Health First Aiders have been trained in Missouri. 4

 Improves the way law enforcement officers respond to people in mental health crises.  Prevents unnecessary time in jail, and reduces injuries.  CIT training has been provided to over 800 law enforcement officers. 5

 Help for people with mental illness and substance use disorder who are in emergency rooms often  Targets 7 areas of the state: Kansas City, St. Louis, Central, Southwest, Southeast, and Northeast 6

NAMI has provided Family-to-Family and Basics training to over 500 family members with loved ones suffering from mental illness. 9

10 Current Biggs Forensic Center (Maximum Security)

The State is working with an international architectural firm to plan for construction of a new 300-bed high security facility at Fulton State Hospital. Some features of the facility may be based in part on the design of the new St. Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital in Washington, D.C. 11

 Treatment that combines medication with counseling and social support.  It is an important part of the services available to people struggling with addiction to alcohol or other drugs. 15

 Targets high-cost persons on Medicaid who have both a serious medical condition and a substance use disorder.  107 individuals are enrolled in services. 16
