ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Strategy Working Group

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Mandate: To oversee the implementation of the ICTC Strategy To respond to funding opportunities and advance relationships/ proposals between formal member meetings (April and September) Meetings: Group meets (skype) once a month (or more as needed) and coordinates with EG, PAC and other WGs where relevant Strategy meeting in Paris on 20 September 2014

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Planning meeting 20 September 2014 Sense check – how are we travelling on the plan Opportunities to enhance the partnership with WHO Addressing the growing pains with our new operational platform Planning for the future – strategy, relationships, members

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Progress – where are we now? Since Brighton 2013 we have made steady progress on many of our strategic initiatives, including: the working group platform governance arrangements for the funded programs a suture donation program promotion of the Coalitions 10 th anniversary work with other alliances engagement with WASH /MMDP preparations for the updated 2020INSight report.

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Progress – where are we now? We have more to do in the following: advocacy for additional support for unmet need in unfunded countries updating trachoma messaging with new data development of the Consortium model analysis of use of practices/resources in the field communications planning capacity strengthening membership development.

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Ongoing support for the Medical Officer Trachoma, the NTD/WASH teams and the GET2020 Alliance (as needed and through systematic engagement) Opportunities identified by Alliance members during the 2014 meeting in Ethiopia in April. Funding gap analysis and donor mapping post GTMP (Draft Rec2) Gaps in existing guidelines, operational practices, technical support (Draft Rec3) Feasibility/risk assessment of barriers to achieving GET2020 targets (Draft Rec18) Encourage ICTC members to support national program participation at the Alliance Partnership with WHO

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 We are not!We are …. ICTC is not a norm-setting agency (WHO has that mandate) - we are a vibrant member of the WHO-led GET 2020 Alliance who share best practice and use the experience of our members to ensure effective and efficient program delivery ICTC is not a decision-making body for the allocation or management of the Zithromax donation program - these are the respective roles of the Trachoma Expert Committee and ICTC member the International Trachoma Initiative ICTC is not a group that makes recommendations on the timing of trachoma impact surveys - these recommendations are made by the WHO and Trachoma Expert Committee Communicating the role of ICTC

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 We are not!We are …. ICTC is focused on the needs of those at risk of blinding trachoma, not individual members. The Coalition plays to the diverse strengths of its members to fit the member to the need of the country program. ICTC is not a registered NGO with a budget and a bank account – we are a membership organisation working together with and not in competition with our members ICTC is not an employer or a contractor – officers generally work on a voluntary basis or by negotiation with our employers. Sometimes ICTC members employ consultants to do work prioritised by the Coalition and contribute to the costs of that work Growing pains ….

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Next instalment ICTC Strategic Plan The new 3 year strategy will commence in June 2015 It will be developed through facilitated member consultations in late 2014/early 2015 (timeframe TBC) It will involve opportunities to capture input from WHO and national coordinators It will consider WASH, MMDP and the post 2015 Sustainability Development Goals It will be informed by consultancies identifying the real costs of SAFE implementation (early 2015) and analysing the funding gaps to achieving GET2020 (late 2014); and by the updated 2020INSight report (due early Q2)

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 Project overview Updated SAFE costing project Nigel Pedlingham The Fred Hollows Foundation

ICTC - Celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2014 PWC appointed to develop tool and associated advocacy tool kit Timeframes - September 2014 – March 2015 A practical user-friendly tool that: Can be used for scenario planning; and Can build up from national costings to regional and global costings, to give figures that can be used for advocacy and resource mobilisation purposes
