Presentation transcript:

Eph.6:11 mentions the “schemes of the devil” Indeed, the schemes, wiles, and tools of Satan are many and powerful. One of the most used, if not the most effective, is: “Tomorrow”

The languages of the Scriptures are Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek However, on the topic of “tomorrow” Spanish can teach us something. >“Monana” may literally translate as “tomorrow”… >but more usually is used to mean “not now- later”. If Satan can get us to say “tomorrow” or “monana” then He’s winning the battle for our souls!

How does Satan use “Tomorrow” against us? To put off becoming a Christian. >It evidently worked on Festus, Acts 24: Felix had stolen his wife, Drusilla, from her first husband Azizus, king of Emesa; so Paul spoke of “self-control”. -According to Tacitus, Felix “with every kind of cruelty and lust, he exercised the authority of a king with the temper of a slave”; so Paul spoke of “righteousness”. -Since “tomorrow” is was not promised for Felix (or Paul or us); so Paul spoke of “judgment to come”. >Is it “working” on you? Are you putting off until “tomorrow” what should be done today?

How does Satan use “Tomorrow” against us? To put off making a true priority of being a Christian. >Consider Jesus’ words in Matt.6: Be brutally honest with yourself and ask these questions: How seriously do you take those words in your life? With regard to “laying up treasures” vv.19-21? With regard to having “clear (or single) eyes” vv.22-23? With regard to serving multiple masters? v.24? With regard to being “anxious for your life” vv.25-32? With regard to “seeking first the kingdom” v.33? -What’s your attitude toward “tomorrow” v.34? Is Satan winning the “priority” battle in your life?

How does Satan use “Tomorrow” against us? To put off doing the “right things.” >Look at James 4:13-17 in this connection. -What kind of plans are you making, v.13? cf.Luke 12:13-21 Making plans is not the problem, it’s the kind of plans we make and the priority we give them that get us into trouble, vv Again be honest with yourself: Do you pillow your head each night fully aware of v.14? cf.Psalm 90:12 & 39:4-6 -Or do you pillow your head contemplating the “right things” you’ve done today if tomorrow never comes, v.17? Do the “right things” today instead of on Satan’s “tomorrow”!

Satan uses “Tomorrow” to get us: To put off becoming a Christian. To put off making a true priority of our christian faith. To put off doing the “right things” regarding evangelism, benevolence, edification, and other acts of Christian service. If “tomorrow” never comes, what will become of you and your plans then? It won’t matter if you’re living right today! Hebrews 3:12-15
