Julie got to school early one morning and her teacher asked her to put a pretty boarder up around the bulletin board in the hallway. Julie measured and found the board was four feet wide and two and a half feet high. In order to get enough boarder paper, what did Julie need to do? Was she looking for area or perimeter? How do you know?

Steven’s mother wanted a flower bed in front of their house. He decided to create one for her for Mother’s Day. He was going to plant tulips. He had 24 bulbs that he wanted to plant in three rows. He needed one foot between each bulb. What was the smallest amount of space Steven needed? Would he be looking for area or perimeter?
