Department of Housing and Urban Development Other Information 7 Applicants must successfully complete the following security requirements:  A fingerprint check  A background investigation  Timeframe can range from 2-6 weeks depending on type of appointment. What is the timeline for the hiring process?  From the date that a manager identifies a vacancy to the date that an employee starts is usually 80 days.  The timeline for filling intern positions is usually shorter.  Goal for Summer interns start date is May 26, 2009  Goal for FCIP interns start date is July 6, 2009.
