MGM Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) is a US film-production company. It was established in 1924. It was one of the most powerful Hollywood studios of the 1930s-1950s. It produced such prestige films David Copperfield (1935) and The Wizard of OZ (1939).Among its stars were Greta Garbo, James Stewart and Elizabeth Taylor. The words "Ars Gratia Artis" above the Lion, is Latin, and translated, it means "Art for art's sake."

The Walt Disney Company was established in Hollywood in 1923. And its first Mickey Mouse cartoons appeared in 1928. The company was founded from The Walt Disney Company in 1994.
