ANIMALS HOME SOCIETY The question is not, 'Can they reason?' nor, 'Can they talk?' but rather, 'Can they suffer?

Article 51A(g) “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment, including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife, and to have compassion for living creatures”

The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 Duties of persons having charge of animals : It shall be the duty of every person having the care or charge of any animal to take all reasonable measures to ensure the well-being of such animal and to prevent the infliction upon such animal of unnecessary pain or suffering.

WHAT IS CRUELTY?  Any person who beats, kicks, over-rides, over-drives, over-loads, tortures.  Employs in any work or labour or for any purpose any animal which, by reason of its age or any disease infirmity; wound, sore or other cause, is unfit to be so employed.  wilfully and unreasonably administers any injurious drug or injurious substance to any animal

 keeps or confines any animal in any -cage which does not measure sufficiently in height, length and breadth to permit the animal a reasonable opportunity for movement.  Keeps for an unreasonable time any animal chained.  fails to provide such animal with sufficient food, drink or shelter CRUELTY BY OWNERS

 Abandons any animal in circumstances which tender it likely that it will suffer pain by reason of starvation.  Wilfully permitting his animal, to go at large in any street, while the animal is affected with contagious or infectious disease.  without reasonable excuse permits any diseased or disabled animal, to die in any street.

WHAT IS AH?  AH is a registered non-profit making organization which works exclusively by way of donations.  AH renders medical assistance to animals.  AH fights to eradicate cruelty against animals by education, campaigns and enforcement of animal welfare laws.  AH has been successful in saving the lives of over 800 animals and have rescued over 50 animals.  AH at present takes care of over 700 dogs, a few birds, a donkey and some visiting working animals.

How you can help?  If you know about an animal that is injured or being treated cruelly in the city of Jodhpur, call the 24-hour cruelty and advice line on  Make a DONATION to the AH to help the Society achieve even more for animals.  Become a MEMBER of the AH and support its work.  Become a VOLUNTEER with AH and help out with practical animal welfare work, or fundraising.  Do an INTERNSHIP with AH and apply your theoretical knowledge in a practical manner and make a difference.
