PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO; NOVEMBER 6 OF 2003 COMISION NACIONAL DEL AGUA GERENCIA REGIONAL NOROESTE FIFTH MEETING OF THE NAME SCIENCE WORKING GROUP (SWG-5)

SONORA GETS THE 64 % OF HIS YEARLY PRECIPITATIÓN DURING THE SUMMER SEASON. IN THIS SEASON, SONORA HAS SEVERAL HEAVY RAIN AND STORMS THAT CAUSE BIG RUSHING WATER AND FLASH FLOODS. THE REGION OF THE STATE WITH MORE AMOUNT OF RAINFALL IN THIS SEASON IS THE SOUTHERN AND THE EASTERN REGION. COMISION NACIONAL DEL AGUA GERENCIA REGIONAL NOROESTE

COMISION NACIONAL DEL AGUA GERENCIA REGIONAL NOROESTE TROPICAL CYCLONES AFECT TO SONORA BETWEEN AUGUST 15 AND OCTOBER 15, DURING THIS PERIOD, CONDITIONS FOR TO RAINFALL HAPPENS ARE GETTING BETTER. NOWADAYS, FOR THE METEOROLOGICAL FORECAST, WE USE INFORMATION FROM THE SMN OF MÉXICO AND FROM THE NWS OF USA.

COMISION NACIONAL DEL AGUA GERENCIA REGIONAL NOROESTE IS NECESARY TO IMPROVE CAPACITIES AND RESOURCES OF LOCAL OBSERVATORIES FOR TO DETECT BETTER AND QUICKLY EVENTS OF STORMS AND HEAVY RAIN DURING THE SUMMER SEASON, IN ORDER TO PREVENT TO LOST HUMAN LIVES AND MATERIAL RESOURCES.
