A book report by HM

Setting The rest of the story: A small Island called Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts The beginning: A movie set for a Dracula movie in a cold and damp castle in Romania.

 Grace- An only child of Constance Meredith who doesn’t know her father. She has brown hair and deep blue, almost purple, eyes. Grace is persistant to know who her father is and hates being the daughter of a movie star because she feels like she is always by her self in life. Constance Meredith- A movie star who has always chased after her dreams. She has thick blonde hair, a straight perfect nose and high cheekbones. No matter what she does she always seems to look perfect. Constance Meredith always has to get her way and doesn’t really seem to now exactly how to raise a teenage daughter. She thinks she is right to keep the identitiy of Grace’s father from Grace but really it eats Grace up inside not knowing her father.

Toffee- He is Grace’s teacher that travels with them as they go from movie set to movie set. Toffee is an English man that was an aspiring actor before becoming Grace’s teacher. He tends to always look like and British aristocrat. Toffe is pretty laid back and always makes everything a chance for Grace to learn. Camilla- She is Grace’s nanny. Camilla is a physic or so she says and looks like a gypsy. With long, flowy skirts and waist long black curly hair. She was born in Buffalo, NY and became Grace’s nanny in California. Every place they go she has to buy a new t-shirt to add to her t-shirt collection.

M ORE CHARACTERS :P Louise- Grace’s best friend on the island. She has a job at the local news paper finding out what celebrities are at the island. She also helps her mother with her catering business, (that is how Grace and her become friends). Louise has long wavy red hair and is very fashionable. Some say she even looks like an Abercrombie model.

Fav Character My favorite character is Grace. Grace reminds me a lot of me in some areas in the book that is why she is my favorite. Her mom is a movie star that really isn’t that great of a mom and her father she does not know. She feels a lot like she always has to take things into her own hands. Through out the book she has to try to discover who her father is by her self because her mom doesn’t feel that she is old enough to know the truth. Along the way she become friends with Louise. She is a very inspirational character.

Da Summary Grace Happens follows Grace as she tries to find the identity of her father while living on Martha’s Vineyard Island where her mother grew up. Her mother is the famous movie star Constance Meredith. Grace and Constance never really got along and Constant wasn’t really a great mother towards Grace. Her mother suggests they stay in the house she grew up in on the island after she completes her latest film in Romania. Toffee, Grace’s teacher, and Camilla, Grace’s nanny, go with them to the island. Shortly after they arrive at the island Grace gets a job helping Ms. Herman with her catering business.

Da Summary Cont…………..  Grace becomes friends with her daughter Louise.  Since Louise has a column in the local newspaper on all the local celebrities Grace is hesitant telling her who her mother is.  Grace continues to try to get her mom to tell her about her father but her mother is taking her sweet old time telling her.  Since Grace is not receiving any Information Grace starts to take matters in her own hands.

 With the help of Louise Grace starts to piece together clues of her father.  She knows that he lived on the island and was dating Constance senior year of high school, right before she was born.  Will Grace figure out the true identity of her father? Will she ever meet her father? Read this book to find out.

To be or not to be? The end of Grace happens is exceptional. It fits the story very well. But the question is would I change it? To be honest I would. It seems a little rushed to me. In the period of 2 chapters everything miraculously becomes better and they live happily ever after. Nothing in life just happens like that. It takes time for happiness to come to ones life. I would of made the ending a little more realistical and a little less rushed.

 I find this book an inspirational book.  The message is crystal clear in this book and I think it is a good message as well.  I think the message of the book is to chase after what you want in life and to believe in your self and in your friends.  The author suggests all these things as very important in a girl especially a teenage girl.

 Yes!!!!  I would so recommend this book (but only to girls).  Grace Happens is inspirational to girls of all ages and keeps you attention throughout the whole story  This book is a great read and all girls should read it
