Faithful Christians Before a Holy Father 1 Peter 1:13-25

“Live like no one else, so you can live like no one else.” Dave Ramsey

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 NASB

How can we be holy (different)? Think differently (1:13-16) Live differently (1:17-21) Love differently (1:22-25)

“For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” Proverbs 23:7

“In this life we will never be as holy as He is, but we should be holy because He is.” William MacDonald

“He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.” Ephesians 1:4

“The Word reveals God’s mind, so we should learn it; God’s heart, so we should love it; God’s will, so we should live it. Our whole being—mind, will, and heart—should be controlled by the Word of God.” Warren Wiersbe

Because it is written…be holy: Leviticus 11:44—practical holiness is seen as purity in diet in dress Leviticus 19:2—holiness with social and family responsibilities Leviticus 20:26—holiness having to do with the spiritual world

We need to think differently to be holy.

We need to live differently to be holy.

“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.” 1 Peter 1:22

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.” John 14:23

“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love (phileo-brotherly) for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart (agape- sacrificial).” 1 Peter 1:22

“Now that you’ve cleaned up your lives by following the truth, love one another as if you’re life depended on it.” The Message Bible

“We are called to love differently. We are called to be holy.

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2

Will you, will I, choose to live a holy life?
