Taxes and Bookkeeping

How to Organize Your Taxes

Step 1: Designate & label an accordion case for your end of year tax documents.

Step 2: Label file folders with categories that relate to your business. My Files are labeled: (1 Folder for each) To File Bank / Square (or Kudos) Statements Party Orders Commission Statements Advertising Meals & Entertainment Insurance (business) Bad Debt (ex: bounced checks not settled) Interest (bank or credit cards) Fees & Memberships Office Expenses Office Supplies Legal/Accounting Travel (business related) Telephone (business phone) Delivery/ Shipping Motor Vehicle Home Expenses: (internet, power, heat, property taxes, etc) Donations Medical

Step 3: Create a Tax Binder. My Tax Binder includes the following categories: Party Invoices Expenses (listed) Mileage (use tracker) Receipt Pocket

Step 4: When you are ready to file your taxes, place all documents inside the accordion & take to your accountant.

Step 5: One last way to organize your taxes is with a mini accordion container that you keep in your purse.

Keep Everything!

Take Care of Those Receipts!

Start Great Habits Now!

On your Hostess Order Form, write down EVERYTHING YOU GAVE HER!

Stop what you are doing right now (not literally). Go get your odometer reading on your vehicle and write it down.

Taking an extra few seconds to write on the receipts immediately is key!

Disclaimer: I am not an accountant. Everything within this training explains how I organize my taxes. I am not giving professional advice, nor am I responsible for your taxes. You will need to speak to an accountant for questions related to your taxes.

Three tips to help you on a daily basis with your business:

Step 1: Have a plan.

Step 2: Track your time.

Step 3: Plan some more.
