BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR MULTIPLICATION

“give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.’ !” -- Jesus Luke 6:38

“Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit !” -- Jesus John 12:24

II Timothy 2:2 “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”

II Cor. 9:10-11 “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

WHY MULTIPY? 1. Church multiplication (planting) is an effective evangelistic methodology. 2. Church multiplication necessitates an outward focus. 3. Church multiplication is the natural result of a growing, healthy church.

WHY NS,RS,RF CHURCHES SHOULD MULTIPLY? The ultimate goal of a RS & RF church is to multiply. “ReStarting & ReFocusing is the process of…re-capturing the vision and heart of Jesus for His church…a radiant, multiplying church.”

WHY NS, RS, RF CHURCHES SHOULD MULTIPLY The ultimate goal of a NS Church is to multiply. Starting a new church is the opportunity to birth a vital, vibrant church that will help start other churches that will multiply.

It is not about ONE church ReStarted, ONE church ReFocused, ONE church planted. It is about a multiplication MOVEMENT driven by growing, healthy churches!

Two Barriers to Church Multiplication 1.Fear of loss. Loss of… Members Money Mud (parts of the community) Momentum

“Church multiplication is NOT a members, money, mud (turf) or momentum issue. It is NOT a resource issue, it is an issue of the heart!” Remember! Remember!

THE HEART OF THE MATTER It is not the size of the church that matters, but the size of the church’s HEART that makes all the difference!

Two Barriers to Multiplying Churches 2. Corporate selfishness-it is all about us. “I don’t serve well if I merely oversee a church that continues to serve only itself” (Glenn Wagner)

Barrier Busters 1.Faith- giving ourselves over to God “When fear knocks, let faith answer.” Faith looks at the “loss” of members, money, mud and momentum and sees them as investments.

2. Corporate Sanctification The spiritual decision of a local church to put the needs of a desperate world before self-preservation. Barrier Busters

According to Jesus, sanctification is not just to get me into heaven but for a testimony, that the world may come to know God! (Jn.17:17-23) Corporate Sanctification

“The great need we face in achieving healthy church multiplication is the re- sanctification of the church.” (John 17:17) “Shared Vision” for Corporate Sanctification

You make a Commitment To Multiply! “To help Parent a new church within 3 Years of your NS, RS, RF start” WHAT WE ASK

Three Potential Responses 1.Apathy:It is not my problem. 2.Allegiance: It is my prerogative. 3. Ask: What do you want me to do?

Commitment Process 1.CULTIVATE the soil of your soul. 2.CHART your course 3.CHAT it up Only what we give away…multiplies! (John 6:1-13)

BEFORE GOD ASK Will I join the multiplication movement? Will I lead my CHURCH in multiplication? Will I be COMMITTED enough to go on record?
