In Search of Faith Luke 18:1-8

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying:" There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Get justice for me from my adversary. ' And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ' Though I do not fear God nor regard man,

Luke 18:1-8 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. '"Then the Lord said, " Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?

Luke 18:1-8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"

How long?

Psalm 13:1-4 How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him"; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved

What this question says to God? “oh you of little faith”

We doubt… but Christ says don’t worry about your clothes or daily necessities. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Matthew 6:30

We doubt… but Christ says He can handle our storms of life; physical or spiritual. But He said to them, " Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26

We doubt… but Christ says keep your eyes on Me. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, " Lord, save me!“ And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, " O you of little faith, why did you doubt?“ Matthew 14:30-31

We doubt… but Christ says keep your eyes on Me. And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, " O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Matthew 14:31-32

Think about it How do you think Peter felt? From the time of being pulled out of the water to the point where he entered the boat (Mt 14:32)? Were they not still in the midst of the sea? Do you think he lowered his head in shame?

We doubt… but Christ says I will provide. But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, " O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread? Do you not yet understand, or remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets you took up? Matthew 16:8-9

Why do we doubt or worry? Because life is hard and we want to know Christ is there. Those who hate me without a cause Are more than the hairs of my head; They are mighty who would destroy me, Being my enemies wrongfully; Though I have stolen nothing, I still must restore it. Psalm 69:4

Why do we doubt or worry? Because life is hard and we want to know Christ is there. O God, You know my foolishness; And my sins are not hidden from You. Psalm 69:5

Why do we doubt or worry? Because we are scared. Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, Where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me. I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God. Psalm 69:1-3

Why do we doubt or worry? Because we are scared. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever. I will praise You forever, Because You have done it; And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good. Psalm 52:8-9

What Christ reveals to us through His parable.

What Christ reveals to us through His parable. yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. '"Then the Lord said, " Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Luke 18:1-8a

What Christ reveals to us through His parable. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?“ Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, Luke 18:8b; 18:1

What Christ reveals to us through His parable. But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:5-6

What Christ reveals to us through His parable. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

What about You? Do you wait on the Lord? Do you trust in Him? Will He find that you really do have faith in Him?
