Presentation transcript:

Adjectives has two kinds: Comparative adjectives: Can be between only two people or things. Superlative adjectives: can be between more than two people or things, three or more .

Comparative adjectives Adjective with one syllable: We add er to adj with one syllable and put than after adjective This car is bigger than that one. Ali is taller than Sami.

Comparative adjectives with more than one syllable: We add more or less for adjective. This T-shirt is more beautiful than that one. Rim is more intelligent than Salma. That picture is less wonderful than that one. Monkeys are less dangerous than snakes.

Superlative adjectives Adjectives with one syllable: We add est to the adjective and put the before adjective. Ali is the tallest student in the class. Mouse is the smallest animal.

Superlative adjectives with more than one syllable: We put before the adjective the most or the least. Rabbits are the least dangerous animal. Rama is the most beautiful girl in her family. My cousin is the least intelligent boy in the class. Donkey is the most useful animal.

Important note: _ If the adjective ends with y and before it consonant letter, we change it and put ier or iest. Happy → happier → the happiest _ If the adjective ends with vowel and consonant we double the consonant. Big → bigger → biggest, thin → thinner → thinnest
