There are a number of approach to this phase of a census: Traditional – each house contacted and enumerated face to face – (most developing countries and for part of the population of some developed countries). Great importance and consideration must be given to the timing of the census. This depends on a number of factors –Avoid seasons when there is a lot of rain, flooding or high temperatures –Times when most persons are staying at their usual place of residence –Avoid seasons of peak agricultural activities –Avoid periods of tradition festivals, pilgrimages and fasting periods –Times when labour force is available ‘Sound Statistics for Sustainable Development” Anguilla Statistics Department
