Service Learning Service learning combines community service with classroom instruction, focusing on critical, reflective thinking as well as personal and civic responsibility. Service learning programs involve students in activities that address local needs while developing their academic skills and commitment to their community. - American Association of Community Colleges

Why Service Learning?  The Role of Higher Education in Promoting Citizenship and Advancing the Public Purposes  The Learning Experience for ALL Students  Addressing Critical Social Issues that Plague our Communities “We challenge you to assure that the next year’s entering students will graduate as individuals of character more sensitive to the needs of community, more competent to contribute to society, and more civic in habits of thought, speech, and action.” – Wingspread 1993
