TRC Math 10/22/0832 TAKS Vertical Scale  SB 1031 requires a vertical scale in grades 3–8 for mathematics and reading starting with the 2008–2009 school year  Vertical scale score system will allow for the direct comparison of student test scores and evaluation of student progress across grade levels  Vertical scale score system will allow for the direct comparison of academic performance standards across grade levels

TRC Math 10/22/0833 TAKS Vertical Scale  Committees will convene in October to review the academic performance standards currently in place on TAKS mathematics at grades 3–8  Committees will make a recommendation to TEA and SBOE about whether the current academic performance standards will need adjustments to conform to a vertical scale

TRC Math 10/22/0834 TAKS Vertical Scale  TAKS vertical scale score and standards review recommendation will go to SBOE for first reading in November 2008  TAKS vertical scale score and standards review recommendation will go to SBOE for second reading and adoption in January 2009  TAKS scores will be reported using the vertical scale score system in spring 2009
