Scenario 1 – LMU Descriptions Mapped boundaries of discrete management areas with differing management intentions (13 units in North Yukon) Detailed descriptions of: –Biophysical setting –Ecological, heritage, cultural and economic interests –Land administration –Recommended Management Goals and Objectives –Indicator Status

(SDL-020, SDL-022, and Permit #001) - Undesignated Land Scenario 1 – LMU Descriptions

Scenario 2 –Footprint Analysis In recognition of the strategic importance of the Dempster Highway and its designation as a significant route under the National Highway System, surface disturbance and linear (access) density indicator monitoring are exempt within a distance of 2km on each side of highway center line (4km total corridor width). Exercise: How does historic footprint in the Dempster Highway corridor compare to adjacent LMU’s 9 and 10?

Habitat suitability value (HSI) on a scale from 0-3 (0=poorest, 3=best), for each focal species, based on expert opinion gathered from the community and wildlife biologists Exercise: Do concentrated use areas identified by satellite collar data for caribou coincide with areas identified by experts as high value? 20 years of satellite telemetry data on the Porcupine Caribou Herd have been analyzed to identify concentrated use areas across different seasons. Scenario 2 –Habitat Analysis

The Atlas provides access to Thematic Maps displaying important values and development objectives. The typical themes are: Ecologically Important Areas First Nations Heritage Economic Development Potential Land Status Landscape Management Units Scenario 3 –Data Distribution

Extending the Atlas to your own data Data layers may be uploaded for the current session, and used alongside Atlas layers in analysis. Data may be extracted from the Atlas for selected layers within the current map extent Maps can be marked up with user labels and symbols, and exported as an Adobe Acrobat © (pdf) file Exercise: Upload the 2008 Fire History and determine what proportion of North Yukon LMU 11 was burnt. Which landscape type was most affected?

Current Project Status The Atlas framework has been completed, tested and implemented on YLUPC’s web server. Regional Planning Database content is continually being added to the Atlas by Council and Regional Planning Commissions. This data is made publicly available wherever data sharing arrangements allow it.. The Atlas was registered with the GeoDiscovery portal at the end of June, 2007
