Presentation by AJ Solomonik

 A simple machine is a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force. In general, they can be defined as the simplest mechanisms that use mechanical advantage (also called leverage) to multiply force.

Usually the term refers to the six classical simple machines which were defined by Renaissance scientists:  Lever  Wheel and axle  Pulley  Inclined Plane  Wedge  Screw Source: Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia

 A LEVER IS A RIGID OBJECT USED WITH A PIVOT POINT TO MULTIPLY THE MECHANICAL FORCE  A PRY BAR IS A LEVER

 THE WHEEL AND AXLE IS A MODIFIED LEVER THAT ROTATES IN A CIRCLE AROUND A CENTER POINT  A 4 WHEEL SCOOTER HAS 2 AXLES

 A PULLEY IS A SIMPLE MACHINE MADE OF A WHEEL ON AN AXLE OR SHAFT THAT MAY HAVE A GROOVE  A FISHING ROD HAS A PULLEY

 THE INCLINE PLANE IS A FLAT SURFACE WHOSE ENDPOINTS ARE AT DIFFERENT HEIGHTS  WE MADE AN INCLINE PLANE OUT OF… ME

 A WEDGE IS A SIMPLE MACHINE USED TO SEPARATE TWO OBJECTS THROUGH APPLICATION OF FORCE  PAPA MAY USE A WEDGE TO LEVEL A COUCH

 ARCHIMEDES SCREW IS A MACHINE USED FOR TRANSFERRING WATER UPWARDS  ARCHIMEDES LIVED 2200 YEARS AGO

 SIMPLE MACHINES HELP IN OUR LIVES EVERY DAY. FROM THE BARE STICK OVER THE SHOULDER TO THE COMPLEX MECHANISMS LIKE CARS SIMPLE MACHINES ARE EVERYWHERE. WITHOUT THEM WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH EVEN THE SMALLEST TASK.
