Civil Citation for code violations Certificate of Use – Commence 2013 and apply to new businesses – Initiate a one-year education process for existing businesses – Would require application to certify the use and structure are per code requirement – Would be renewed with Business Tax Registration – Appropriate tool to regulate use and site devt. issues ACE Program Alliances for Community Excellence

Landlord Registration – Require all rental properties to register with City – Housing Inspector would conduct annual inspection for min. housing code – Position to be funded by application fees Unsafe Structure – Continue to aggressively pursue Unsafe Structure cases after 3 years of no activity – Critical role in removal of slum and blight – Partnership with Code, Police and Building ACE Program Alliances for Community Excellence

Nuisance Abatement – Reestablish the nuisance abatement board – Aggressively pursue property owners to abate nuisance activities – Partnership with Code, Police and Building Administrative Foreclosure – Strategically position the city to foreclose on properties that have code liens – Establish criteria and policies to be adopted by Commission ACE Program Alliances for Community Excellence

Staff and Community Partnerships – Staff partnership with community – Staff partnership includes Code, Police, Building, Utilities – Systematic survey each quadrant and conduct on-site educational outreach on frequent code violations – Provide appropriate resources and support to assist property owners in complying with code – Initiate code compliance process after all avenues have been exhausted – Goal is to have measureable improvement for a concentrated period and specific geographic area – Staff will continue its participation in crime watch meetings, Front Porch Initiatives, neighborhood mtgs., etc. ACE Program Alliances for Community Excellence
