Presentation transcript:

Starting as usual with the first lines in pencil. After that I go working on the eyes with pen and ink.

Here we are at the point when I start with water and brush to fade away the hard pen- and ink lines.

.

You can see clearly the softer tones on the nose and forehead after I applied water on the ink.

Starting with the mustache and beard. These will be washed also when finished.

Ready with the first layer. My pen drawing is ready and also washed. Now it has to dry, because the paper is too wet for further pen work.

Starting with the background. I placed first the lighter parts on the paper. I washed them, and go on with the darker parts. All these are done with water soluble pencils.

All the details will be done after I placed the background. Because then I have to make the complete drawing wet again.

The coming images show you details made on the face of “Maunck”. Thin lines with pen and ink, so there will come more depth in the whole drawing and the face comes alive.

Starting with the background on the left. With pen and ink I place the lines and darker parts. Now details in the stones will be made.

Lot of black has to be done into the background. With pen and ink many lines are made. The drawing gets its form, feeling and its own life.

A lot of lines. And the progress is now coming to an end. The finishing touch.

Sincerely “Maunck” © John Baselmans
