Endangered Animals April 1, 2013 The Black Rhinoceros comes from southern and eastern Africa. Rhinoceroses are herbivores, which means they only eat plants. They use their large horns to dig up roots and break branches. The Black Rhinoceroses have been over-hunted because their horns are used for medicines and carvings. Some kinds of rhinoceroses are completely gone and only a few are left of some other kinds. Black Rhinoceros How is a Black Rhinoceros like an elephant? How is it different? 4 ©1997-2013 n2y

The jaguar used to live in the United States too, but people have hunted them until they were gone. Jaguar Have you ever seen a jaguar in a zoo? 7 ©1997-2013 n2y
Endangered Animals April 1, 2013 Can people do something to help animals nearby? Yes! Pick up trash tossed on the ground, along roads or on beaches. Animals could eat the trash and get sick. Always throw trash in a trash can, not on the ground or in a lake. Do not kill good insects, like spiders. They eat smaller bugs and are food for birds and other animals. Plant trees. Trees provide homes and food for birds and small animals. Plant a tree! What would you like to do to help animals? 8 ©1997-2013 n2y
