Coach Dube - Track Sam Houston State University  Located in Huntsville, Texas  Enrollment: 18,400 (smaller in size and close to home)  Mascot: Bearkats  Major: Kinesiology  Minor: Health  She chose this college because of the track team!!  She loved the experience of being part of the track team, competing, the school pride, and the tradition.

Ms. Peters –Theatre Sam Houston State University  Major: Theatre w/emphasis in Acting and Directing  Minor: Secondary Education  She chose SHSU because it has one of the TOP 10 Musical Theatre programs in the US and is one of the best schools for Education! Her mom also attended there!  “I had absolutely amazing teachers & peers at SHSU. Truly irreplaceable in my life and as mentors in my career choice. I had teachers who had experience all over the world and who wanted to be in the classroom. There is no doubt in my mind that I learned from LEDGENDS! I think that is what I loved most about my college experience, just the chance to live, work, and create among people who have the talents of giants!” -Ms. Peters

Mr. Martin – Biology Sam Houston State University  Founded in 1879  Third oldest public institution of higher learning in Texas  Major: Biology  Minor: Chemistry  He chose this University because it was close to home and affordable.  “The thing I loved most about my Sam Houston experience was the Biology Labs. Ms. Dehring – Art Saginaw Valley State University  Located in: Michigan  Double Major: K-12 Art AND 6-12 English  She chose this University because it is one of the only colleges with an Education program and an Art program.  She loved that it was close enough to home (where she lived at the time) and it was affordable. She also had great professors!

Ms. Dietrich – English Dallas Baptist University  Major: English Education  Minor: Spanish  She chose this University because she was offered scholarships that would pay 50% of her education. She was able to move to Texas and experience a different piece of American culture.  “ I became very involved in the international student office. I had the opportunity to talk to people from around the world and share an apartment with girls from all over Asia. It was a great experience to reveal American culture to them as well as learn so much about Asian cultures and languages.” -Ms. Dietrich

Dr. Thorson – World Geography Texas A&M University  He received his Bachelor’s as well as his Doctorate Degree here!  “I picked Texas A&M for 2 reasons (1) I had attended Texas A&M for my bachelor's degree and so much an Aggie I bleed maroon and (2) I went to informational session for their doctoral program (I had also been accepted to SHSU at the time) and after meeting the professors knew 100% without a doubt I wanted to get my doctorate through my alma mater.”  “I loved the challenge of it. I have found as I've gotten older that I constantly like to challenge myself in doing new things or accomplishing a goal. This was by far one of the most challenging things that I ever did but I will never regret doing it.” –Dr. Thorson
