When Moses was born his mother put him in a papyrus basket and placed him in the Nile River. Why would she do that? 22/ CHILDHOOD AND EARLY LIFE

II.htm Moses was in danger because he was the son of a Hebrew slave. Exodus 1:16 says that Pharaoh ruled, “Kill the boys. Let the girls live.”

Pharaoh’s daughter lifted the baby out of the water. That is how Moses got his name. It means, “I pulled him out of the water.” His sister watched. She offered to find a nurse. She took Moses to his birth mother. She raised him until he was three years old. Then he went to live with the Pharoah’s daughter.

He was leader of Hebrews who guided them out of Egypt. He wrote the first five books of the Bible called the Torah. The books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
