Where? Queen’s Parade, Bangor, Northern Ireland When? 01 April 2013 – 31 March 2015 What? Project 24 is a unique temporary art project on Bangor seafront; it has transformed a derelict space into a welcoming, vibrant and dynamic area in the heart of the town. It includes 12 artist studios situated within six artist pods. Project 24 is a new destination for Bangor- a creative hub for both residents and visitors. Project 24 is open to the public 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Project 24 also includes an Event Space with seating areas which will accommodate exhibitions, youth activities and performance, with a bespoke projection space and community garden to nurture and grow both plants and vegetables. Project 24 is supported by the Northern Ireland Executive through the Department for Social Development and North Down Borough Council.

Art Pods The Art Pods are housed in customised shipping containers with a coloured exterior and bespoke interior. The studios are multi- functional spaces where artists will be inspired to create works of art. Project 24 will raise artistic standards, incubate art related business and put arts at the core of a new creative destination! There are six art pods, each pod containing two artist studios. Each studio measures: 2.8m (w) x 4.6m (l) x 2.4m (h)

The setting of the art pods and the landscape structure has been derived from looking at the historic footprint and street patterns and setting up a grid and structure which reflects the past on the ground, the pods are scattered among the grid defining routes and create spaces for exhibition and performance. These random insertations represent the constant flux and movement the site has incurred. The Art Pods are seen as light boxes with the idea to draw people into the space and have it a fluid and translucent environment, which people will experience different atmospheres and moods depending on the season. Art Pods Pod Colours: yellow, green, pink, blue, lilac, purple The pods are fully fitted with power and heat and can be easily relocated.

Project 24 has created an opportunity that brings the first piece of open space grassed areas to the centre of Bangor in many decades. A community garden is a shared project where people from all age groups, abilities and backgrounds come together to grow their own fruit, flowers and vegetables. The Project 24 Community Garden aspires to create a programme that will engage community groups to take an active interest in the planning, planting and caring for the garden

The Event Space has seating areas with a bespoke projection space. The Event Space will accommodate exhibitions, youth activities and performance.
