The Inca Civilization Matt, Liam, Katie, Emily

Location The Inca Lived Throughout the Andes‘ Mountains. They lived in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia and Argentina.

Government The Inca government was a monarchy with advisors to the King/Emperor. The leader was a King/Emperor and the advisors were selected by the King. The King/Emperor was called an Inca Similar to the Roman Empire

Religion The Inca is polytheistic. There main god name was Inti the god of the Sun. They had a Sun which was used to notify them when it was Summer or Winter. There where Shamans that believed in animal spirits living on the Earth. The Emperor worshiped the Inti ( the sun god). The Inca believed the after life (heaven and the underworld). Practices for the Inca was when royalty died the mummified their bodies. They had festivals,with music, dancing, parades, and games.

Agriculture Some crops that the Incas grow are, potatoes, tomatoes, cotton, peanuts, maize and cacao. Llamas, Alpacas, and vicuñas were some important domesticated animals. Llamas were used for food and transportation Alpacas were used for For other practices they developed drainage systems, irrigation and canals to expand their crop resource. Also they used terrace farming. Terrace farming was carving steps up a mountains side to create flat land for farming. Since there were many levels all the levels get water and the bottom doesn’t get flooded, like it would on a steep slope. It also helped stop erosion.

Cultural & Scientific Contributions Some cultural contributions were writing in the language they invented/developed, textiles, and taxes Some scientific contributions were canals, engineering, skull surgery, roads, clocks, and drainage
