TORREY CAMP STAFF Coach Heather Meier Coach Meier has been involved in coaching various levels of cheerleading for over 9 years. This will be her second year leading the La Jolla Country Day Varsity Program. Previously, Coach Meier served two years as the Head Coach of Mission Hills High School and built her teams into an elite competitive program. During her time with MHHS, her Varsity Competition Squad performed as Semi-Finalists at the Universal Spirit Association (USA) High School Spirit Nationals and took first place at the Sharp International West Coast Championship. Coach Meier has had the privilege of seeing several of her high school team members move on to cheer in various college programs. Coach Meier has also served as the Head Coach for the All-Girl and the Assistant Coach for the Co-Ed programs at Palomar College. As a part of the coaching staff in 2002, Coach Meier holds a Universal Cheerleders Association (UCA) Collegiate National Championship Title in the Junior College Co-Ed Division. Coach Meier is a certified coach and judge through the National Cheerleaders Associaiton (NCA). She also works during her summers as a Camp Manager for NCA. It will act as credit towards purchases for drinks, snacks, and possible souvenir purchases. It eliminates the possibility of kids losing track of money given to them for the week. All In A Days Work Campers will be put into teams based on grade. Each camp day will be broken up into two sessions; a morning and afternoon session. The Camp Cheer, Camp Dance, and Camp Stunts will be taught in teams during the morning session. Campers will individually get to choose alternate cheer and dance classes and team stunts will be reviewed during the afternoon session. For some of the younger campers (1 st or 2 nd grade) a full day may be too much. They are certainly welcome to attend camp the entire day, and when they do, they will be given plenty of breaks and will have an option for a “craft” session in the afternoon to keep their attention and motivation levels high. Parents are encouraged to attend the afternoon session on Friday as all teams and individuals will perform everything they have learned throughout the week!
