Bulkage of Sand Collect the sample of sand Fill the sample in the measuring jar. Let the ht noted be H1 Then fill the sample with full water and shake well. Let the ht noted be H2 % of Bulkage =(H1-H2)/H2

Purpose For Correcting the volume of fine Aggregate to be used.

Advantages Obtaining proper mix ratio Avoiding excess quantity of cement

RESULT BULKAGE OF SAND SAMPLE 1 : BULKAGE OF SAND=(H1-H2)/H2 H1=540MM H2=430 % OF BULKAGE=25%

BULKAGE OF SAND WATER ADDED 0 ml 25ml 50 ml 75 ml 100 ml HT IN MEASUREMENT 365 mm 390 mm 440 mm 410 mm 330 mm

RESULTS SAMPLE 2 H1 =320 H2 =280 % OF BULKAGE=14.25%
