B2 RAG analysis comparisons

Participants a three separate events completed RAG analyses of their concerns for evidencing B2 indicators: 1) 22 July 2014 – SPA Seminar 2) 24 November 2014 – QAA Conference 3) 26 February 2015 – SPA College HE Admissions Event Responses from each event were compiled All responses are unattributed: no individual person or provider is identified in this analysis The purpose of such an analysis is to aid in targeting areas of recruitment, selection and admission to review and plan improvement. An advantage of this exercise was that it helped participants share issues and good practice.

B2 RAG analysis comparisons The level of concern does not necessarily denote how ‘well’ or ‘badly’ a provider may be satisfying each Indicator, but is an expression of ‘confidence’. This may be affected by a range of factors, including: individual participant’s knowledge and expertise rigour of recording monitoring and measuring external dependencies (including partners) number and range of representatives involved across recruitment, selection and admissions coverage of policies and procedures drive for enhancement

B2 RAG analysis comparisons Further information and support materials for creating, reviewing and updating admissions policies are available on the SPA website at

B2 RAG analysis comparisons The Indicators: 1 Recruitment, selection and admission policies are informed by our strategic priorities. We promote a shared understanding of our approach among all those involved in recruitment, selection and admission. 2 Recruitment, selection and admission processes are conducted in a professional manner by our authorised and competent representatives. 3 We have procedures for handling appeals and complaints about recruitment, selection and admission that are fair and accessible. Appeals and complaints procedures are conducted expeditiously and in accordance with a published timescale. 4 We monitor, review and update our recruitment, selection and admission policies and procedures, in order to enhance them and to ensure that they continue to support our mission and strategic objectives. We determine the frequency with which monitoring and review are undertaken. covering all stages of recruitment, selection and admission 5 Recruitment activities undertaken by higher education providers assist prospective students in making informed decisions about higher education. 6 We make clear to prospective students how the recruitment, selection and admission process will be conducted and what prospective students have to do. 7 Selection processes for entry into higher education are underpinned by transparent entry requirements, both academic and non-academic, and present no unnecessary barriers to prospective students. 8 We determine how decisions and the reasons for those decisions are recorded and conveyed to prospective students. 9 We inform prospective students, at the earliest opportunity, of any significant changes to a programme to which they have applied. Prospective students are advised promptly of the options available in the circumstances. 10 We give successful applicants sufficient information to enable them to make the transition from prospective student to current student. thinking about HE applying to HE going through the selection process Receiving the decision and feedback Making the transition
