3 The Goal To detect any suspicious objects (including non-metal ones) or substances the possession of which is prohibited by law making one try to hide them somewhere in his/her clothes, footwear, on or inside the body. Special case screening of those who wear prosthesis, plaster, etc., is also desirable.

The challenge of applicability is in making the dose of radiation negligibly small even in comparison with the natural radiation background. In other words, possibility of super-low-dose examination is the key to a large-scale application of the X-ray screeners.

9 Radiation  Effective annual radiation dose other than that of medical studies may not exceed 1,000 µSv. The same annual figure is a certified standard for many West-European countries and the USA.  A single scan radiation dose is ~ 0.5 µSv. This means that exposing a person to at least 1000 scans a year with no damage to either law or health is possible.

10 Operation For continuous and efficient working the examination work should contain 3 people team.  Shift Manager The senior of the team who is positioned behind the operating screen of the system.  Team Member 2 In charge of the examined and preparing them before entering the scanning system. He is also instructing them to put there baggage in the screening baggage which is aside.  Team Member 3 Assisting the shift manager to check the findings on the screen monitor.

11 The shift manager is making sure, by a video camera that is installed inside the scanning system, that the examined person is standing in the right position. He is asking the examined person no to move by an intercom system. The shift manager is pressing the examination button "Screen". With the finishing of the screening an indication light is let inside the screening system, confirming the examined person to Exit. If needed the examined person is asked to show the suspicious items. The shift manager is confirming the next examined person to go in the screening system by the traffic light "Enter".
