Introduction Before you read the novel The Cay by Theodore Taylor, there are some key details we must explore.  What happened during WW2?  Where on earth is Curacao?  What would life be like during the war in Curacao?  We will also explore what German Submarines were like, what they did, and what their goal was. We will enter into Oil Refineries and Tankers, experience the Coral Reef like never before, and feel what Malaria feels like.  Through this all, we will be surviving life on a deserted island with sharks, hurricanes and other obstacles.  Let's begin our journey!

Task YOUR MISSION:  Your mission is to complete 6 of the 8 activities out-lined in this WebQuest.  You must take this journey as you explore the events in Timothy and Phillip’s lives! Your final project will be in the form of a writing activity.  You may pick the missions to be included in your Foldable.

Mission 1: Curacao 1. Describe the climate of Curacao. 2. If you traveled to Curacao, what are 3+ things you could do for fun? 3. What type of tree should you stay away from on the island? Explain why. 4.What do people do at Carnival?  How do they dress? 5. What types of wildlife are found on the island? (You need at least 5) 6.
