Volunteering, membership of associations etc. Not allowed: activities that constitute a job in themselves (i.e. architect, lawyer, even if not paid); Teaching: allowed if under 100 hours/year. * Maximum net annual remuneration is External activities: Article 12 (b)

Gifts, payments, favours: Article 11 If gift value > 50/same source/year -> you must request authorisation to receive it; If gift value > 250/same source/year -> charity OR interest of the institution; Missions – if without cost, not accepted in principle

If the publication concerns matters dealing with the work of the Communities – request permission; Remember to use disclaimers to avoid confusion; If no answer from the Appointing Authority in 30 days – go ahead Publications & speeches: Article 17 (a)

Relations with the media, public, lobbyists Be courteous, direct journalists to Unit R/4; Duty of discretion and caution apply; Access can be requested to any documents (including classified), but will be refused if it concerns military, private, security etc. matters; Lobbyists - in the office, during normal working hours.

Selection panels where you know the candidates, calls for tenders where you have a personal/financial interest, etc.; Activities of spouse: if your spouse is/becomes gainfully employed; Running for public office Inform the Appointing Authority. Conflicts of interest: Article 11a

C (2002) 845 raising concerns about serious wrongdoing If you become aware of evidence which gives rise to a presumption of the existence of possible cases of fraud, corruption or any other illegal activity, you must inform without delay your Head of Service or Director-General or, if he considers it useful, the Secretary-General of the Commission or the European Anti-Fraud Office direct. When in doubt, contact the HR unit! Reporting improprieties
