Topics Student conference 2015 Student conference 2016 Engaging students

Region 6 Student Conference 2015 Student conference 2015: –In conjunction with Storage Visions 2015 and the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015 –___ attendees –Good feedback! –Many speakers have asked to speak again next year! –SUCCESS!

Region 6 Student Conference 2016 Student Conference 2016 –Already have a conference planning committee established What we will do again –Also in conjunction with the Storage Visions Conference

Region 6 Student Conference 2016 What we will do differently –Secure location and time ASAP –Virtual conference? –Job fair with top companies for students –Competition –Student branch poster session for students to show off their student branch and share good ideas with other branches (this is a requirement for many universities to fund their trip)

Engaging Students Students join IEEE because they are looking for competitions, scholarships, and volunteering and job experience to put on their resumes, so let’s create more of those opportunities Create different opportunities for underclassmen, upperclassmen, and graduate students –We are lacking engagement from underclassmen and upperclassmen –If we provide underclassmen value for being an IEEE member, we will increase membership and engagement, and they will stick around as upperclassmen
