Alive-O 3 Term 1: Lesson 13 One Moment

One very ordinary day Mary was in the kitchen. The sun was shining in the window and onto the table where she was making bread. Mary felt happy.

As she kneaded the bread, she hummed a song to herself. Then an unusual thing happened. She had turned around to get some more flour, when suddenly out of nowhere, an angel stood in the kitchen doorway. Mary jumped.

The angel smiled, ‘Mary, my name is Gabriel. Do not be afraid. I have news for you.

‘I hope it’s good news,’ Mary said. ‘Don’t be afraid, it’s wonderful news,’ Gabriel replied.

‘You are very special, Mary, and God loves you. You are going to have a baby – a very special baby boy. His name will be Jesus. He will be God’s son.’

Mary was amazed. For a moment she didn’t know what to say.

‘I have more news for you, Mary,’ the angel said, ‘your cousin Elizabeth is going to have a Baby too.’

Mary said, ‘I know that God cares for me very much. I am glad that my cousin is also going to have a baby. I will do whatever God asks of me.

The angel left and Mary continued baking.
