O’Kelly Library’s online databases are collections of information, including scholarly articles and even books in many subject areas. Available information on a company depends on whether it is public or private. Definitions of public company: A company that is listed on the Stock Exchange. On the electronic resources screen, click on a link at the left to bring up a list of databases in the subject area.

Click on the Business link to bring up a list of the business databases on the next screen. ABI/INFORM Complete is one of the business databases.

Search ABI/INFORM Complete for articles from regional, national and international periodicals and news sources on public and private companies. Covers Business, finance, management and current affairs.

Search Lexis-Nexis Academic for Public and Private Company Information.

Lexis Nexis Click on the Multidisciplinary Collection link on the electronic resources screen, then Newspapers in the menu that appears.

Select the database Lexis-Nexis Academic News on the next screen.

On the next screen that appears, click on the Business link.

On the next screen, click on the link to Company Financial Reports for information on company finances.

Type the name of the company in the search box on the next screen, select a date range or leave it as it is, and submit the search.

On the next screen, click on the link to information about the company.

Scroll down the screen to read all the information. Notice the print and options.

On the electronic resources screen, click on the Business link to bring up the link to Mergent Online. Scroll down to the link to the database.

On the Mergent home page, click on enter mergent online.

Type in the name of the company and submit the search.

Notice that you can search by NAICS or SIC code and that there is a code lookup on the Mergent search screen.

Type the name of the company in the search box and select Hoover’s Company Records from the drop-down menu.

To read an article, click on the full-text link to a Hoover’s article on the results screen.
