The Character of God He is a person A thinking, intelligent being that can reason, reflect and consider itself. God is not a force or an entity Heb. 1:3

The Character of God God is Spirit John 4:24 While God is a person, He is NOT human. He is of a different realm

The Character of God God is eternal Deut. 33:27 Psalm 90:2 His eternity is outside the realm of the natural world

The Character of God God does not change Heb. 1:10-12 Mal. 3:6 James 1:17, “…no variation or shadow of turning.” Because of this we can count on Him and His word!

The Character of God God is sovereign Being creator He can do what He wants. Unquestioned authority Isa. 46:9-11 Psa. 115:3 Jer.32:17 Rom. 9:20 – respect His word!

Qualities of God God is holy He is separate (from the common). He is ABOVE all. Lev. 19:2 Isa. 6:3, Rev. 4:8, “Holy, holy, holy!” 1 Pet. 1:15-16, Heb. 12:14 – we too ought to be holy

Qualities of God God is Omnipotent All powerful. He is not restricted by the boundaries of the natural universe Gen. 18:14 Luke 18:27 Rev. 19:6, “the Lord God omnipotent reigns.” “Almighty”

Qualities of God God is Omniscient He is all knowing. Every thought, word and action. He even knows what will happen Psa. 139:1-6 Psa. 147:5 Isa. 55:8-9 He knows what is best

Qualities of God A God of grace Grace – unmerited favor. He has taken steps to save and preserve us Eph. 2:5-9 Titus 2:11

Qualities of God A God of mercy Mercy – compassion, forgiveness. Psa. 103:8 Eph. 2:4 Grace is God giving us what we DON’T deserve – Mercy is God NOT giving us what we DO deserve.

Qualities of God God is righteous, just He is right in His actions. He is fair and upright Psa. 11:7, 145:17 Revealed in the gospel – Romans 1:16-17

Qualities of God God is impartial All will be judged by the same standard. Not based upon worldly standards! Acts 10:34-35 Rom. 2:11

Qualities of God God is jealous He will not tolerate following after other gods Ex. 20:3-5, 34: Cor. 10:22 Not a childish quality, but related to purity, goodness and righteousness

Qualities of God God is severe Rom. 11:22, 2:5-9 He WILL punish those who disobey and reject Him, to the same degree He will reward the godly.
