CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES – REVISIONS TO CHAPTER 30 - UTILITIES CITY COMMISSION MEETING AUGUST 20, 2014

WHY REVISE THE CODE TO ADOPT BEST PRACTICES FOR UTILITY SERVICES THEREBY PROVIDING MORE EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT SERVICES TO OUR CUSTOMERS. 2

3 The proposed Chapter 30 “Utilities” ordinance was presented, amended and adopted by the City Commission on First Reading during the August 6, 2014 City Commission meeting. The amendments to the proposed ordinance include the following… Sec Generally. Bill(s) will be mailed to the following: the occupant(s) of the serviced property, if other than the property owner, and to the owner of the serviced property. Sec Applications for services; water meter required; change of ownership; new and expanded properties; water and wastewater Impact & ARGC fees. Any existing account established in a tenant(s) name upon the effective date of this ordinance shall be reestablished in the name of the property owner by January 1, Proposed chapter 30

PROPOSED CHAPTER 30 AS PER THE AUGUST 6, 2014 CITY COMMISSION MEETING THE FOLLOWING ARE THE APPROVED CHANGES TO THE CHAPTER 30 ORDINANCE. CHANGE FROM A TENANT/OWNER SYSTEM TO AN OWNER ONLY SYSTEM. INCREASING THE TIME TO PAY BILL FROM 15 DAYS TO 20 DAYS. CHARGING A TAMPERING FEE PER OFFENSE AS OPPOSED TO A FLAT FEE. LOCKING THE METER AFTER A 30 DAY SHUT OFF. INCREASE DEPOSIT ONLY AFTER TWO (2) DISCONNECTS DUE TO NON-PAYMENT WITHIN A TWELVE (12) MONTH PERIOD. 4
