Biblical Advises to become a better Christian Author: Praveen Raj Kumar. Y Date: 30/09/2012 Place: Houthalen, Belgium 1 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

We all present ourselves and portray to the world that we are Christians and we live a Christian life. We are obliged to set a Role Model life to each and every non-believers & non-christians. To become a better Christian, than what we are today, I take this opportunity to highlight few of the scriptures which will help to correct ourselves and rectify the mistakes that we might have been doing. Phil 3:1  It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. 2 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

We will discuss about: . Parable of Kingdom of Heaven . Forgiving Others . Fruits of the Spirit . General Points 3 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

Enjoy the treasure: - Matthew 13:44  Read from the Bible. The first two of these parables are intended to instruct believers to prefer the Kingdom of heaven to the whole world, and therefore to deny themselves and all the desires of the flesh, that nothing may prevent them from obtaining so valuable a possession. We are greatly in need of such a warning; for we are so captivated by the allurements of the world, that eternal life fades from our view; and in consequence of our carnality, the spiritual graces of God are far from being held by us in the estimation which they deserve. 4 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

Practice Forgiving Others: - Matthew 18:23-35  Read from the Bible Was the master's forgiveness of the debt unconditional? Is God's forgiveness of our sins unconditional? If not, what is the condition? Or with which kind of attitude must we receive the forgiveness? Example of the School Children & Rotten Potatoes. 5 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

Fruits of the Spirit: - Galatians 5:22,23  “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law” Remember how many of them do we possess today, as a Christian? What are the efforts that we have taken to gain, what we miss? The acts of sinful nature are listed in Those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 6 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - And few general points to think about: Sometimes in our christian life, we feel that more trials, troubles & persecutions are kept for us. Why? 2 Timothy 3:12  “Infact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,” It is normal that our life are troublesome. 7 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] What are we supposed to do during the time of persecutions? Even Jesus Christ has set an example life for us. Hebrews 12:3  “Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” What is the reward for us, if we survive these persecutions? James 1:12  “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test. He will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him” 8 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] Who brings these trials to us? James 1:13  When tempted, no-one should say “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor he tempts anyone. Then who is reason for these trials & persecutions: James 1:14  “but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed” But God is so loving and kind enough to bless us gifts James 1:17  “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from he Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” 9 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] Another Important Characteristics, Christians should posses: James 1:19  My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. But almost everyone, never follow this. We are quick to speak out, whatever comes to our mind, extremely quick to get angry…and most importantly we never listen. We should correct ourselves according to this verse. 10 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] Why should we be slow to anger? James 1:20, 21  for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all the moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. We should live our lives, according to God’s will and anything that doesn’t satisfy him, should never be done. So, it is better to think & act wise, and live according to James 1: Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] Consequences of not doing what we listen? James 1:22-24  Read from the bible. We should not deceive ourselves, but have to do, what it says. This is an order for us. Example of looking at the mirror. Women do it all day long. Because we forget and don’t remember how we looked few mins before. But we should not be like that. 12 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] Consequences of doing what we listen: James 1:25  Read from the bible. If we continue to do, not forgetting what we have heard, but doing it – he will be blessed in what he does. This is indeed a wonderful spiritual blessing in our lives. 13 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

General Points: - [Contd] Controlling & Taming the tongue: Matthew 12:36  Read from the bible. So we should control ourselves, not to speak anything which is careless, rather than to speak few words which might be useful for others. James 1:26  If anyone thinks that he is righteous, but still does not keep a tight reign on his tongue, his religion is worthless. Taming the Tongue: James 3: 3-6  Read from the bible. 14 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!

Conclusion:  These are some of the lessons that we would have already known.  But most of them we never put into practice.  God has kept more blessings for the one, who not only listens to these verses, but also put it into practice.  Most of these commandments are difficult to practice, but remember we have been called to bear the difficulties. 15 Biblical Advises to become a better Christian!
