 Parenting children can bring out the best in someone, but also the worst.  Much of what we learn whether it be good or bad often becomes our core belief structure.  Studies have found that the best predictors of being a criminal as an adult were the experiences the adult had as a child before the age of eight years.  The use of drugs and alcohol can affect a growing child both mentally and physically.  Many children can attest to the horror of growing up in an abusive home.  Children deserve better.

Our World Is Growing. Independent programs in India have been introduced which give incentives to not have children. Areas where this program have been introduced have dropped the number of births per woman from 3.45 to 1.3 in a matter of years. This program pays women a certain amount per month if found not pregnant.

 Similar programs to those that were introduced in India could be started locally to help prevent children from being born into poor circumstances. Aptitude Test Emotional Well Being Criminal Background Emotional testingFinancial StabilityDebtIncome Physical & Mental competence Mental stability Drug or alcohol user  The program would consist of a series of tests. Those who comply to the testing would potentially be rewarded financially.  Potential Parents would undergo a series of tests, which would help determine suitability for parenting.  Criteria similar to that shown here would be considered.  Each aspect measured “passing” would net the tested a certain number of points.  The points would then be added and an evaluation given  Those who score on the upper end of the scale would be rewarded through government subsides such as tax refunds.  Those who score mid range on the scale would not qualify for government funding at that time, however reapplication would be permitted even after a child was born.  Those who scored on the lower end of the scale, would be encouraged to seek alternative options to prevent becoming pregnant.  Retesting would be required periodically to ensure the parents still qualify.  Those who do not submit to the testing prior to having children would not be permitted to apply at any time.

 The focus is not to take away the right to having children or to decrease the population.  Rather the focus is on preventing as many children as possible from being born into homes where parents do not have the means to care for them.

Let us aim our focus so that we will have a society of more of this… and less of this.
